Home-based Activities to do this Christmas 2022

Make some Christmas Cookies

Baking is messy, yes… but kids love it! There are two ways you could do this, going full Nigella and baking from scratch or you could buy some roll-out pastry and make some Nutella Christmas Trees. This can depend on the age of your children. The younger, you may want to go for the easier and less messy option.

Make some Christmas Cards

It’s always a lovely touch to receive a hand-made Christmas Card from a loved one. From footprint stamps to taking some pictures and sticking them to the front of a card… the ideas are endless.

Personally, we enjoy getting messy and making some fun fingerprint cards and here are some ideas.

Make some Christmas Decorations

We love this, a personal Otium Favourite. Get some salt dough or some plain baubles and create your own personalised Christmas Decorations.

The benefit of doing this is, you can completely personalise your decorations so they are sentimental to you or solely for cosmetic reasons… ensuring they match your room theme.

Here are some ideas.

Letters to Santa

This is a must. If your child is under 10 of course. Writing a letter to Santa to ask for presents, is a lovely thing for children to do.

You can buy some really wonderful letter sets and ones where Santa even replied. How magical, seeing their little faces light up with a letter from Santa Clause.

You can always just do this is on a plain piece of paper and get some colours and really create a piece of artwork.

You can pre-order a Letter to Santa pack here.

Christmas Film Marathon

There are so many incredible Christmas Films to squeeze in, in a short space of time. So why not have a marathon?

Accompany this with a pizza night and make some hot chocolates with marshmallows, to really let that festive feeling kick in.

Here are 10 of the best Christmas Films.

Have a video call with Santa Claus

Technology is always a win. You can visit a site called Santa’s calling you. Click here to see.

If transport is limited or you are stretched for time to get to visit Santa’s Grotto, set up a video call with Santa. It’s such a good idea and helps keep their behaviour on track before the big man arrives.
