Q&A with Jenny, of Jenny Allan Design

This week we caught up with Jenny Allan, of Jenny Allan Design. Jenny is an award-winning Interior Designer based in London but has worked all over the World with High Net Worth Individuals, Celebrities, and Property Developers in helping them create a truly elegant and beautiful setting. Here’s our Q&A with Jenny Allan…

  • Is there something in particular that inspires you the most with Interior Design?

One of the things that inspires me the most is seeing the finished property after months if not years of hard work and of course seeing our clients’ delight with the end result.  It’s something very special to see your vision become reality and it gives great job satisfaction.

  • Would you say you have developed your own signature look?

The Jenny Allan design look is typically classic contemporary however we are very flexible with the style that we design.   If a client would like more traditional or a country vibe or perhaps even more contemporary this is something that we can accommodate.   Our style is not set in stone.  It also really depends on the location and architecture of the property as to what interiors will suit the home best.

  • Could you tell me about one of your most rememberable projects?

We have been fortunate enough to work on many beautiful projects over the years. One in particular in Belgravia was very memorable as it went on for two years with complicated restoration and construction.   It culminated in a beautiful family home.  There was a stunning wine cellar, cinema room, gym and entertaining spaces that were a real joy to design

  • What does a typical day look like for you?

One of the wonderful things about being an interior designer is the variation within each day.  There is never a typical working day however as an example our days involve client meetings, construction site visits, designing fabric schemes, creating drawings for bespoke joinery and supplier meetings.  Just to name a few….

  • Would you agree that your own home reflects your style?

Yes, my own home reflects my style.   I’m always having new ideas and inspiration for what can be done and added to it.  It’s quite fun being your own client as well as having all the property contacts and knowing where to source all the fabulous products!
